AUA Holds Career Fair 2022

3 min read

YEREVAN, Armenia — An integral part of the mission of the American University of Armenia (AUA) is to have an impact on the development and advancement of Armenia through teaching and scholarship, and also through facilitation of employment placements of its graduates in leadership positions within public or private establishments. In that regard, the AUA Career Services organized a career fair on May 27, 2022 for AUA students and graduates, featuring 45 well-known companies, including banks, IT, audit/consulting, telecommunications, financial, credit, and insurance companies, as well as educational and training centers. The career fair was an excellent opportunity for students and recent alumni to network and connect with potential employers from a cross section of multiple industries.

Each organization had set up booths with their banners and eye-catching displays to attract the interest of attending students and alumni. Dropping by any of the booths provided potential employees with promotional pamphlets or leaflets about the respective organization, along with more current information about available vacancies and career opportunities. The teams presented their companies in the best possible way so as to attract the smartest and most talented contenders. Over 200 students and alumni took part in the fair eagerly walking around every booth to discover new career prospects․ They were thrilled to see so many leading companies participating in this career fair AUA had organized.

The career fair was a wonderful opportunity for both sides to make connections and get to know each other. Students learned more about what to expect from the current labor market and expanded their knowledge of potential employers. This was an excellent opportunity for many to take the first crucial step in the process of finding employment and starting to build a successful career.

As Stella Kostanyan, AUA career advisor noted, the event was not only about job hunting or head hunting, but also about building one’s professional and personal network, which is essential for entering the workforce and advancing in one’s career. At the fair, students had the unique opportunity to create direct contacts with representatives from companies that included KPMG Armenia, EY, Deloitte Armenia, PwC, Grant Thornton, Digitain, SuperAnnotate, Expper Technologies (Robin the Robot), CIVITTA, TNY, SEF International, DEEM Communications, ServiceTitan, Siemens Industry Software, Synergy, Synopsys, Margasoft, TUMO, VMWARE, FAST, Fast Credit Capital, FINCA, Rosgosstrakh-Armenia, ACX International, Loopex, Magnus, GN Group, National Instruments, Galaxy Group, Time, Revery Group with Pepsi Armenia, Premier Foods, Premier Beverages, Atenk, Central Bank of Armenia, ACBA Bank, HSBC Bank, Ameriabank, ArmEconom Bank, Ardshinbank, Ucom, VivaCell-MTS, Orders.co, Teach for Armenia, as well as AUA Open Education.

What made the fair even more effective and interesting were the two informative workshops organized by AUA Career Services. The first workshop was titled “How to land your first job?” and featured guest-speaker Zara Grigoryan, senior talent acquisition partner at SuperAnnotate. The workshop was very helpful especially for those just starting their professional career. The speaker covered topics about one’s first job from A to Z answering commonly asked questions of how to look for a job? How to prepare a resume or fill in a job application? How to get ready for an interview?

The second workshop was an overview of technical recruitment approaches and management of human resources conducted by Anush Vasilyan, executive recruiter at Magnus. The speaker conducted the workshop in an interactive manner, asking the attendees questions on the workshop topic and engaging them in active discussion. At the end of the workshop, participants were asked to fill out a form based on which the fitting candidates would be invited to Magnus for an open position interview.

The career fair left everyone happy and optimistic about future prospects that will be mutually beneficial for AUA alumni and students, as well as for employers.
